Crawford Market Update Chennai Floods: Heaviest Rainfall in 100 Years
The heaviest rainfall in over a century has caused massive flooding across the city of Chennai in India. Chennai is reeling as major floods have left many people stranded and short of supplies.  The floods have caused an erratic power supply with some areas completely in the dark.  Mobile services are also badly hit.

Typhoon Koppu ‐ (Local Name: Lando)
This Category 4 storm badly affected Northern Luzon early on Sunday morning 18 October 2015.  Despite being a very slow moving storm, Koppu has caused heavy flooding due to prolonged and torrential rainfall. The typhoon continues to affect the country.  At its peak, sustained winds of 150 kph were reported.

Crawford Market Update: Hurricane Joaquin Blasts the Central Bahamas
Category 4 Hurricane Joaquin continues to hammer the central Bahamas with 130 mph winds, storm surge flooding and torrential rain, and is expected to continue pounding the islands causing catastrophic damage through Friday. Joaquin's eyewall is hammering Samana Cays, the Acklins, Crooked Island, and Mayaguana in the central Bahamas, and is nearing Rum Cay, San Salvador and Long Island (Bahamas). Flooding from storm surge and torrential rainfall has been documented on Long Island and the Acklins.

Crawford Market Update: Typhoon Dujuan
Typhoon Dujuan was the most intense tropical cyclone of the Northern Hemisphere in 2015 according to the Central Weather Bureau. The storm brought wind gusts of up to 227km/h, and a sustained wind speed of 184km/h. Dujuan was classified as a Category 4 severe tropical storm and it landed in Nanao, Ilan of northeastern Taiwan at about 17.40 on 28 September 2015.

Crawford Market Update: Tianjin Explosion
Fires are still burning at the site of two massive explosions in the Chinese city of Tianjin.  At least 50 people died and hundreds were injured, 71 critically, in the explosions on Wednesday evening, 12 August 2015.   Our thoughts are with all those affected by this incident. The two huge explosions tore through an industrial area where toxic chemicals and gas were stored in the north‐ east Chinese port city of Tianjin.  The blast sent shockwaves through apartment blocks kilometres away in the port city of 15 million people. Internet videos show fireballs shooting into the sky.

Crawford Market Update: Typhoon Shoudelor
Crawford’s Taiwan office is responding to claims following the landfall of Typhoon Soudelor over the course of the last weekend. The storm is so far the most intense tropical cyclone to hit the Northern Hemisphere this year and struck Taiwan severely. At least 4.3m homes have been left without power; the country’s Central Weather Bureau said the storm brought with it wind gusts of up to 208km/h, and a sustained wind speed of 173km/h.

Typhoon Chan‐Hom, Taiwan
Typhoon Chan‐Hom is the first tropical storm to affect Taiwan in 2015. Classified as a Category 3 severe tropical storm, Chan‐Hom was closest to the island at 20.00, local time, on Friday 10 July, influencing the north eastern coastal counties of Ilan and Taipei.
